Heartbreaking, beautiful story

Cruel Beauty - Rosamund Hodge

I freakin loved this book. There were so many aspects that made it well worth the read for me. I guess let's start with the setting. I thought this world was absolutely fascinating. I'm assuming it's along the lines of Ancient Greece due to the mythological beliefs and hermetic teachings but I guess that's kinda subjective. Anyway. I'm a sucker for mythology so I loved that this was peppered with it. Also I took Latin in highschool so anyone who can quote my favorite saying " ave atque vale" is thumbs up in my book. It was not originated from shadowhunters FYI in case u were wondering. Anyway I was sucked in from the start then once I met Nyx it was all over. Her characters depth really spoke to me. She tried her best to be the dutiful daughter and sister but somewhere along the line a cold hate corrupted her heart. Oh wait I know why bc her father bartered her away for his own gain and her twin sister got to live a happy life while she got to marry a demon lord and get killed trying to take him out. It's much more than that. The inner workings of the Triskelton (spelling) family are portrayed flawlessly . Through Nyx's pov I could sense each forced smile or silently swallowed tears as if it wear my own. I thought Nyx was brave and pretty much down right awesome.  It really makes the story when the main pov is so kickass. She wasn't afraid to admit she had darkness in her heart. I loved that. Now on to Ignifex. I must have banged my head repeatedly  bc I was so ridiculously attracted to his charecter. I couldn't help myself. I have a crush on a Demon Lord. I'd like to say it was the first time but I think there have been other demon cruches. Hmm I should look into that bad boy obsession I have. Anyway major spoilers ahead so please Proceed with caution! right away I wanted her to fall for Ignifex then Shade came along and I was like ohh girl go with him. He reminded me of Jem from Infernal Devices for some reason. He seemed into her but only for the hope of reuse she gave him. Then I kinda thought what the hell! Shades alittle bit of a bitch but of course I know he was cursed or something but still there was something so submissive about him that was a turn off. Yes I love the Alphas.  When Nyx and Ignifex finally started to form there bond I was really excited for her. But alas it was to good to be true. Nyx let her wet mop of a sister convince her to slay the only man who ever loved her. That angered me that She finally had a chance at happiness even if it was at Arcadias cost. Guess I'm more selfish then Nyx ever was. Anyway if your a fan of Mythology, fairy tales, or true love this story will definitely peak your interest.

Not so sparkly Vampires...

Vampire Origins - Project Ichorous - Riley Banks

I would like to state that i received this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have never been so conflicted on how to rate a book in my life. I ended up going with 4 stars since there is just so much that i love in this story. There is also somethings that really didn't work well for me. Overall this one crazy ride.

First of all let me be the first to say this is how i like my Vamps, most of them are mean, vindictive, and hold grudges for centuries. They can manipulate humans like marionettes, some with just a single thought, which all feeds into the suspenseful drama filled pages. These are so not your sparkly blood suckers. Even the youngest (by youngest i mean 300) gets in on the action. These are ruthless killers.

I cant even begin to break into the characters since there is so many but i really loved how the historical times lines were woven early on, Alex and Anna being the infamous Romanov children was a great touch. Vlad's history was interesting as well except i never really seemed to grasp his master plan. I thought the way the different vampire families were broken down and explained was extremely clever since it provided you a ton of information and still allowed the story to flow, it wasn't just a strait information feed.

The only downfall in my opinion was felt through out the book and i also believe that this is more personal preference. I appreciate what was trying to be done with the multitude of view points but i felt that is was more a a distraction then anything else. The storyline was great and every time i got into it it would pretty much end abruptly . It was great for the suspense but i think i lost a lot of information that was since i feel like i have many many unanswered questions. There was always so much going on due to so many characters i had to reference the list of people in the front to keep track. Also the ending wasn't quit what i expected either. It felt supremely rushed and then stopped so i was like GRRRRRRR!
But like i said this is just me. Other than the formatting i really liked how things went and cant wait to learn more in the upcoming books.

TGIF

So just when I thought my weekend couldn't get any better... It totally did!

Awesome NA Dystopian

Switch - Janelle Stalder
This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review.

So I was in like with this book from the blurb on. It was a great dystopian with some romance on the side. I love when my books have alittle dash of spice in them aka naughty scenes . This story revolves around a girl named Charlotte who was captured by the New World Army and it's cruel leader. Of course Charlotte isn't any regular teen she has the gift to read others minds. How cool would that be?! Feeling betrayed by her father for leaving them for dead, she joins up with the new world once she accidentally lets her secret out to the most dangerous man around, Roman Adamson. A huge part of the reason why she goes with the "enemy" is out of spite and a deep sense of self preservation.(view spoiler) In this world everyone is just doing what they can to stay alive, so often the lines between good and bad can get really blurry. That really appealed to me since it made things feel more real. In life the tough choices are rarely black and white. I really enjoyed the way the characters were written since they felt so relatable. None of them annoyed me which I think is a first.i really felt how everyone was touched by this awful war that is taking place in there own way. Most of them were pretty badass so I liked the fact that I could see there weaknesses thru there inner dialogue which was pretty snarky most of the time. This was pretty fast paced read for me and while it kept the book action and suspense packed it also seemed to rush a few of the relationships. (view spoiler) I also loved the way the characters were so intricately woven. The only thing I didn't like was how the book wrapped up. (view spoiler) With that being said this is Such a unique story. I really enjoyed this one and will be awaiting the sequel.

Frabjous Day!

I am absolutely floored that i have been roaming this wonderful planet for 30 years today!!!! Did i wake feeling any wiser you ask? No actually i woke to my 2 year old son (bless his poor little heart) throwing up all over my freshly coiffed hair. Happy Birthday Mommy! Ahhh the joys of parenthood never cease to amaze me. While i am not at all pleased to have left my turbulent twenties i will embarce my thirties with a resilience that is imcompreable  After all 30 is the new 25 or at least it is in my book.

I had a dream....

No I literally had a dream. I am not quoting the late great Martin Luther King. It was unlike any other dream I have ever had. I died. As morbid as this sounds this is what happened.  the absolutely crazy thing was the emotions I felt during it and the way it was so sequential. Most dreams you have a random cat eating a pop tart or a tree that gives away expired condoms telling you to get you life in order. This particular dream played out like the beginning of a story. I thought to myself  "hey you've got something here self." After some much needed inspiration from the wonderful man in my life I decided I should begin to write and what better way to stick the proverbial toe in the pool than to write a ...... Wait for it......BLOG. Duh duh duuuuuhhhh!!!!  While everyone and there cat has a blog these days I though so what!? This isn't attack of the killer blogs! It doesn't have to be what other people want because it's mine. So this being my first official blog post I'd like to congratulate myself for popping my bloggers cherry! *pats on back*  I am really excited to rant, rave, review or just shoot the breeze. I hope you like it. If not there is 2,484,898,090 other blogs you can read So :-p
